We take pride in our traditions and strive to offer a place where every day is a reason to celebrate.<\/p>\r\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/gondolen-theme\/assets\/images\/jpg\/bcec23fc2c890756f3af0f509c257a64.jpg\" alt=\"svbr\" \/><\/p>\r\n<h2>Our History<\/h2>\r\n<p>Gondolen, located on S\u00f6dermalm in Stockholm, offers a stunning view of the inlet of Saltsj\u00f6n and the city&#8217;s impressive gateway Since opening in 1935, alongside the Katarina Elevator and KF Building, Gondolen has been a symbol of Swedish culinary tradition. Inspired by a dirigible gondola, the restaurant floats 33 meters above the ground, serving classic Swedish and French cuisine. King Gustav V was our first guest, and &#8216;Kungarummet (the King&#8217;s Room, our private dining room) remains with the same d\u00e9cor as back then.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u00a0 <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"8772b9292cd0d565cc40f395518800de\" src=\"https:\/\/gondolen.se\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/08\/8772b9292cd0d565cc40f395518800de-e1722677470126.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\r\n<p>On October 15, 1935, Slussen and the new Katarina Elevator were inaugurated, dramatically transforming S\u00f6dermalm. Architect Le Corbusier described Slussen as &#8220;the first major work of the modern era.&#8221; On the opening day, visitors admired the new Katarina Elevator as it floated over S\u00f6dermalm, offering a breathtaking view of the city.<br \/><br \/>KF Director Albin Johansson showed the distinguished guests around the new Gondolen, where King Gustav V was present. After a tour of the restaurant, they toasted with champagne (Veuve Clicquot), and King Gustav V proudly declared Gondolen open. Gondolen quickly became a popular and cherished restaurant, where visitors from around the world could enjoy luxury and an exceptional view of Stockholm.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u00a0 <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/gondolen-theme\/assets\/images\/jpg\/c2ebc51b7638a9d75e7b3de5faeb122d.jpg\" alt=\"svbr\" \/><\/p>\r\n<p>At Svenska Brasserier, we are proud to continue Gondolen&#8217;s rich heritage. With respect for our history and a vision for the future, we aim to create a place where tradition meets innovation. We own the fishing boat SM4 Tarona, which catches herring, trout, whitefish, smelt, and perch directly for our restaurants. By being the primary receivers, we can choose fish caught in an ethical and sustainable manner, ensuring the freshest ingredients for our guests. We also have our own gardens at Ulriksdals V\u00e4rdshus, where we grow leafy greens, herbs, and vegetables.
